Dennay Burgess
MD
Dr. Dennay Burgess's medical focus includes integrative medicine, preventative and lifestyle medicine, sports medicine, women's health, and mental health.
Dr. Burgess completed her family medicine residency training at the University of Connecticut near Hartford, where she had completed her Bachelor of Science Degree years earlier while playing as starting point guard on a full Division 1 NCAA basketball scholarship.
Her passion for athletics, human physiology, and determination to succeed at an elite level led her to pursue medical education.
During her medical residency, she received multiple awards, including the stork award for delivering the most babies in her program.
Before medical residency, Dr. Burgess attained her Masters of Science Degree in Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, where she studied postpartum depression in women. Her research and thesis on this topic led to her findings being published in several medical journals.
Dr. Burgess followed her family roots to the Caribbean and completed her Medical Degree at St Georges University, where she was named to the Dean's list.
Dr. Burgess has a true passion for service and community involvement. She believes family medicine is about the community, health promotion, prevention, and management of chronic and acute illnesses; there is no better way to learn and teach than through service
She chose a career in family medicine to connect with people on an individual human level. Dr. Burgess is dedicated to serving as a patient's first contact for health concerns, focused on caring for patients regardless of age or health condition while sustaining an enduring and trusting relationship.
